What Is Qadr Night?

The Qadr Night, also known as the Night of Destiny, is a significant event in Islamic culture. It’s the night when the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and its importance is said to surpass that of a thousand months.

According to Rahyafte(the missionaries and converts website):Qadr Night is not only the night of the Quran’s revelation but also the night when the affairs of the coming year are determined. The term “Qadr” translates to fate, and destiny, reflecting the idea that people’s destinies are decided on this night.

According to the Holy Quran, the Night of Qadr is a momentous occasion. It’s believed to occur during the holy month of Ramadan, as suggested by verse 185 of Surah Al-Baqarah, which states that the Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan, and the first verse of Surah Qadr, which says, “We sent it down on the night of Qadr.”

However, the exact night of Ramadan that is considered the Night of Destiny is unclear. Sunnis typically believe it’s one of the last ten nights of Ramadan, most commonly the 27th night. Shias, on the other hand, believe it’s either the 19th, 21st, or 23rd night of Ramadan, with the 23rd night being the most likely.

The Night of Qadr is considered the most important night of the year in Islamic culture. As per a narration from the Prophet (PBUH), it’s one of God’s gifts to Muslims, a gift not bestowed upon any previous nations.

The Holy Quran devotes an entire chapter, Surah Qadr, to describing and praising the Night of Qadr. This Surah states that the value of the Night of Qadr exceeds that of a thousand months. Additionally, Surah Ad-Dukhan refers to Qadr Night as a “blessed night”.
