“Islamic Theology: A Textbook”

In addition to the objective, this textbook presents the teachings of the Ahlul-Bayt (AS) and helps create a deeper sense of understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims.

According to rahyafte (the missionaries and converts website):“Islamic Theology: A Textbook”, compiled by Reza Bakhshayesh and translated by Mohammad Reza Peysepar was published by the International Publications of Al–Mustafa (S).

Regarding the significance of translating such a textbook, the translator said, “In the recent centuries in which Islam has been constantly presented in scientific languages of the world there has been a relative shortage of Shia sources in English compared to Sunni sources. The difference can be attributed to various factors including the Sunni Muslim population around the world and the historical domination of their science and literature.

The availability of Islamic sources in English often depends on the efforts and investment made in translation. As the majority of the Muslim community, Sunni books and sources have traditionally received more attention and investment in translation projects. That is why a wider range of Sunni sources has been made available to English-speaking audiences while the Shia has been introduced more through Sunni sources and sometimes through non-Muslim books and articles.

However, we must admit that in recent years, some efforts have been made to fill the gap and increase access to Shia translation sources. Scientific centres such as Al-Mustafa International University and the International Deputy of the Qom Seminary are among those concerned with translating Shia literature and assisting English readers to access it. It is hoped that they will fill the huge gap as much as possible and provide a more comprehensive understanding of Islam in the West.

In the meantime, the deep and detailed books in the field of theology are not always appropriate for Muslim and non-Muslim youth. To address this need, such a brief textbook must be compiled. In addition to the objective, this textbook presents the teachings of the Ahlul-Bayt (AS) and helps create a deeper sense of understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims.
