Proving the Legitimacy of Imam Ali (AS) through Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (SA) in the Words of Allama Amini (RA)

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whoever dies without recognizing the Imam of his time dies the death of ignorance.

According to rahyafteha(the missionaries and converts website):Proving the Legitimacy of Imam Ali (AS) through Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (SA) in the Words of Allama Amini (RA)

One day, Sunni scholars invited the late Allama Amini (RA) for dinner. Initially, Allama Amini declined their invitation, but they insisted. He agreed under the condition that they would only have dinner and avoid any discussions. They accepted his terms.

After dinner, one of the Sunni scholars, who had gathered many scholars in the session, wanted to start a discussion. Allama Amini reminded them of their initial agreement not to engage in any discussions. However, they insisted, saying that to sanctify the gathering, each person should narrate a Hadith.

They started narrating Hadith one by one until it was Allama Amini’s turn. He said, “My condition for narrating a Hadith is that first, all of you must agree on the authenticity or lack thereof of the Hadith’s chain of narrators.” They all agreed.

Then, Allama Amini quoted a Hadith:

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whoever dies without recognizing the Imam of his time dies the death of ignorance.” (1)

After quoting the Hadith, Allama Amini asked each participant individually whether they agreed on the authenticity of the Hadith’s chain of narrators. They all confirmed the Hadith’s authenticity.

Then he asked, “Now that you have confirmed the authenticity of the Hadith, I have one question for you: Did Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (SA) recognize her Imam, or did she not? If she recognized him, who was her Imam?”

For a quarter of an hour, twenty minutes, the entire gathering fell silent, their heads lowered. They had no answer. One by one, they left the session, thinking to themselves:

“If we say she didn’t recognize him, that means we must say Fatimah (SA) departed this world as a disbeliever. How could the Lady of the Worlds be a disbeliever?”

“And if we say she recognized him, how can we say her Imam was Abu Bakr?”

While Bukhari, one of the most renowned Sunni scholars, has stated:

‘Fatimah (SA) passed away while she was displeased with them (referring to Abu Bakr and Umar).’ (2)

This silence forced them to acknowledge the legitimacy of Imam Ali (AS) and his leadership. They left the gathering in embarrassment.
