What led me to Islam was (despair)!

I am your creator!” And now I know that God is the most kind and merciful! And I see in myself that I can have a little compassion!

According to rahyafteha(the missionaries and converts website): Salam dear sister , tell us about yourself
My name is Jorun Belgen. I was born in 1957 and grew up on a farm in Vaaler, near Moss in Norway

What was your previous religion?
Lutheran Christianity and I was Pentecostal.

Did you interact with Muslims when you were young?
No, ther was no muslim where i lived.

Before becoming a Muslim, what was your opinion about Muslims?
I was curious! I knew from school that there are many Muslims in the world.

Did you know about Islam?
No. My mother and aunt were devout Christians. So I got interested in it too.

When and how did you meet Islam? How did you become a Muslim?
Let me explain my way in Christianity:
As I said, my mother and aunt were devout Christians. That is, I was really aware of God. I was really aware of my shortcomings. And I believed that God loves humanity. And that he was there for me!

My father died when I was 3.5 years old. I don’t remember him and I have felt lonely for many years of my life.
Well, the basis of Christianity is forgiveness. And that Jesus, the Son of God, must die on the cross for our sins and the sins of Adam and Eve! And these were the only things I knew! No one told me about Islam until last year!

Christianity did not work for me. It made my life difficult! So when they told me about Islam, I knew that it would truly be my salvation! I was done with the Bible. So, as I said, it didn’t take long before I grasped Islam with all my heart!

What led me to Islam was (despair)! And also through Facebook chats I realized that I can use my common sense! It is as if God said: “I am here for you.” I am your creator!” And now I know that God is the most kind and merciful! And I see in myself that I can have a little compassion!
Ramadan last year, I got to know Islam through a Facebook friend, and I became a Muslim right away.

What happened that you became a Shia??
My Facebook friend is a Shia, he gave me links to Shia scholars and the teachings made sense to me!

Did your family and friends easily accept you with your new religion?
My family: I haven’t told them yet! But they may be suspicious now. They don’t live nearby. It’s not my business to say such things on the phone!
Friends: I have told a few of them. Some are polite. Some are a little curious. And some are very negative, but they avoid me, so no problem!
