British Muslim Keeps Raising Mental Health Awareness after Saving 29 Lives

Rizwan Javed MBE, a British Muslim who works for the MTR Elizabeth line at Ealing Broadway station, has been honored with an MBE for saving 29 people from taking their own lives.

According to rahyafteha (the missionaries and converts website):He has also been using his social media platforms to promote mental health awareness and encourage kindness and empathy, aboutislam.net reported.

The 33-year-old from East London said he was always alert and ready to help anyone who looked vulnerable or distressed at the station. He said he felt a duty to intervene and offer support to those who were struggling.

He uses his Instagram and TikTok accounts to share his stories and inspire others to make a positive difference in the world.

“In this world, humanity knows no boundaries. It doesn’t matter what religion we follow or what color our skin is; we are all connected by our shared desire to uplift one another,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the potential to transform lives. It’s about lending an ear to someone in need, offering a helping hand, or simply being there for those who feel alone,” he added.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, suicide is the second leading cause of death among youth aged 10-34.

Muslims view suicide as a violation of the gift of life given by God, and believe that people should trust God, have patience, and respect life. They also believe that saving a life is equivalent to saving all of humanity.
