Muslims Deliver 3000 Meals to Those in Need

Hundreds of Muslim volunteers of all ages came together on Saturday to prepare and deliver around 3000 free meals to various sites in Albany, Schenectady and Troy.

According to rahyafte (the missionaries and converts website):The initiative was part of the annual National Muslim Soup Kitchen Day, when volunteers cook meals for the homeless and the poor.

The initiative “is the true meaning of faith in action,” said Sohaib Chekima, principal of Annur Islamic School, Times Union reported.

“The organizers and their volunteers know nothing about the beneficiaries other than their appreciation for a fresh homemade meal.”

This is the eighth year that the Muslim Soup Kitchen Project (MSKP) holds the event.

The project, which started in Albany, New York, brings together Muslim and non-Muslim organizations to serve those in need.

Volunteers distributed free meals at several different sites to promote unity and address the universal issue of hunger.

It is worth mentioning that the MSKP has been feeding thousands of local families and individuals in need for years. The group organizes monthly Soup kitchens and drives at various locations throughout NY and nationally throughout the US.

What began as a small local effort by students in 2003 in Albany, NY, has now reached thousands of families.
