Development of Quran Memorization Centers for Kids A Revolutionary Plan: Turkish Official

The president of Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) described a plan for development of Quran memorization centers for children as revolutionary.

According to Rahyafte (the missionaries and converts website):Speaking during a Thursday visit to a Quran memorization center for children aged 4 to 6, Ali Erbas underlined the need for teaching the Quran to children at an early age.

He said the Holy Prophet (PBUH) has ordered Muslims to teach religious teachings to children by the age of seven.

Erbas noted that scholars of educational sciences believe that the bulk of one’s personality is shaped by the age of 7 and that is why so much emphasis has been laid on teaching children by this age.

“We want our boys and girls to know their God and prophets as well as the love for motherland, love for sciences, love for prayers, and importance of respecting others and having good relations with neighbors at an early age,” he added.

Erbas went on to say that development of Quran memorization courses for children aged four to six is a revolutionary initiate for the Turkish nation.

In Turkey, the Directorate of Religious Affairs is responsible for supervising Quranic and religious activities.

Every year, hundreds of people in different age groups learn the Quran by heart and receive Quran memorization certificates in Turkey.
