Check out Black Muslims in Canada: Research Interrupted This Thursday

A Report presentation on the state of Black Muslims in Canada is to be held this thursday.

According to rahyafte ( the missionaries and converts website):  Research on Black Muslims in Canada is limited and does little to illuminate the diverse communities Black Muslims are a part of.

This report presentation is a culmination of a project collaboration between the Black Muslim Initiative and the Tessellate Institute on the state of research on Black Muslims in Canada – what communities have been identified? How are they written about? Who is doing the writing? Are Black Muslims authors of their own narratives? And finally, what role do oral narratives have in the data that is collected about Black Muslim narratives?

Join us in highlighting the importance of Black Muslim narratives to Black History Month in Canada.
Dr. Fatimah Jackson-Best will present her research, followed by a discussion with Hodan A Cashuur and Tendisai Cromwell.

The event will also feature a spoken word performance by Naeema Hassan.

Date: Thursday, February 7
Time: 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Location: Faculty of Social Work, UofT, 246 Bloor St W, Suite 548
