Three Groups of Imam Hussein’s Enemies

The battle of Karbala brings numerous lessons. The true characters of individuals became clear based on their choices in this battle between right and wrong.

According to Rahyafte (the missionaries and converts website):A group of people were those who stood against Imam Hussein (AS) and waged animosity against him and his family despite the fact that they knew him.

A group of people confronted Imam Hussein (AS) on the day of Ashura and registered their names as members of the front of the falsehood in history. Shimr ibn Dhi ‘l-Jawshan, Husayn ibn Numayr al-Sakuni, and Umar ibn Sa’d were among these people.

There were people on the enemy’s front who were not eager to fight with Imam Hussein (AS). Shabth bin Rabie was one of them. He had sent a letter to Imam Hussein (AS) inviting him to Kufa but joined the army of the enemy. Some members of the enemy’s front were those who had come to Karbala due to their extreme fear of Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad.

Some of these enemies later expressed their protest against this crime. For instance, when Yahya ibn al-Hakam saw the insult of Yazid to the head of Imam Hussein (AS), he protested. Yazid, in response, ordered the guards to move him out of the session.

This article was a summary of remarks made by Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadreza Jabbari, a professor of Islamic history, in a local seminar.
