‘Don’t Allow Passengers Carry Zamzam’, Saudi Authorities Order Airlines

Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation has issued a new directive, asking airlines not to allow passengers carry Zamzam water inside the plane in their baggage.

According to Rahyafte(the missionaries and converts website)The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) issued a new circular to all air carriers operating in the Kingdom’s airports, including private airlines, not to allow passengers carry Zamzam water bottles inside their baggage on board flights departing from the Kingdom’s airports, Saudi Gazette reported.

The circular stipulates that all airlines departing from the Saudi airports must not allow travelers to put Zamzam packages inside their baggage.

“The non-compliance with the circulars issued by the authority will be treated as clear violation of the government orders, and legal measures will be taken against the violators and hold them accountable for the violation,” GACA warned in the circular.

In 2014, disappointment and protests spread among the congregation due to the regulations issued at the time limiting the number of bottles and cans of ZamZam water that pilgrims could carry from the initial 10 liters per person to only 5 liters per person.

Aab-e-ZamZam is water from the ZamZam well located in the Masjid Al Haram, Makkah, which is considered a miraculously generated source of water that has great religious significance among Muslims. Traditionally, pilgrims often bring it back to their respective countries in large numbers after performing Hajj or Umrah.
