Russian Politician Who Supported Islamic Resistance Dies at 70

Shamil Sultanov, a Russian politician and thinker and a supporter of the resistance in the Middle East region died at the age of 70.

According to Rahyafte(the missionaries and converts website)According to the Iranian Cultural Center in Russia, Sultanov was among the figures with the most effective role in promotion of Russia’s ties with Iran and other Islamic countries, especially those in the resistance front.

Born in 1952 in Andijan, Uzbekistan, he was a prominent Muslim thinker, strategist and analyst.

He served in the Russian State Duma from 2003 to 2007.

Recently, he served as the president of the Russia and Muslim World Strategic Views Center.

Iran’s Ambassador to Russia and several Palestinian resistance groups sent messages of condolence over the death of Sultanov.
