A Swedish Professor Converts to Islam in Imam Reza (A.S.) Holy Shrine

Silva Mettou, Economics professor of Sweden, converted to Islam by reciting the profession of faith in the month of Ramadhan in Imam Reza (A.S.) Holy Shrine.

  According to rahyafte (the missionaries and converts website)  Silva Mettou, 31, converted to Islam from Christianity in a ceremony which was held at the presence of religious experts of the Islamic Relations and Non Iranian Pilgrims Affairs Office, in the Ghadir porch of the Holy Shrine and chose “Zaynab” as her new name.

Regarding the reasons of her desire towards Islam and specifically Shia, she said:”Islam is a complete religion which can fulfill all the needs of the human. It has a comprehensive set of rules for a good life and with the studies which I have had on this issue, I chose the Shia sect for myself.”

Zaynab Mettou, who has researched for 18 months, said:”When I studied the Quran and the biography of the Imams, I found the Shia sect as the most complete religion which all the commands it has, have a scientific basis and can make prosperity for the individuals.”

This newly converted woman pointed out that got familiar with Islam via her friends in the university and added:”With my trip to Syria and the communication I had with my Muslim friends, I managed to learn a lot about Islam.”

Silva Mettou, talking about the importance of hijab and the necessity of suitable Islamic clothing for women said: “The hijab doesn’t prevent the presence of women in the society, but in fact, this clothing and hijab, completes the real personality of the woman.”

Hijab gives women immunity

She added: “Hijab gives women immunity and brings them more serenity and calmness.”

She said:”Although I haven’t visited the holy shrine before, but I felt a lot of closeness towards it. The nickname which has been given to Imam Reza (A.S.), the kind-hearted imam, was very calming to me and so, I chose this holy place to convert to Islam.”

Pointing out to her fondness to visit Lady Masooma, she said:”After my trip to Iran, I will directly go to Karbala to visit the holy shrine of Imam Hussain (A.S.).”

It is mentioned that four non Iranian pilgrims have converted to Islam from the beginning of the year until now. They have been gifted with a copy of the holy Quran, a sculpture of Imam Reza’s (AS) Gravestone and books regarding the principles of Islamic and Shia beliefs and cultural and holy packs by the head of the non Iranians pilgrims office of the Holy Shrine.
